On November 11, 1989, building on the dreams of the Founders of the Fraternity and the school, a new dream came to life with the establishment of the Iota Pi chapter of Sigma Chi on the campus of Marquette University. Today, more than 560 alumni are a living testament to the attainment of higher learning, and even higher ideals.
That tradition still thrives today… but to endure, it needs you!
We’re inviting brothers young and old from across the country to “Make Your Marque” at your alma mater! The current chapter house was not sustainable, disrepair was hindering chapter growth, and member safety was jeopardized. Building on a vision, the “Make Your Marque Campaign for Iota Pi” has already made critical repairs and safety improvements. We also completed MAJOR renovations that will sustain the growth of Iota Pi for decades to come! Today, the active chapter is back in the house, stronger than ever…and growing! But even with that success, there’s an immediate financial need in order to complete the financing on terms that make the house affordable and sustainable, as a home for our active brothers!
We’re full partners with CHI to make this nearly $1.2 MILLION renovation a reality! We’re updating our commitment as the work progresses, currently focusing on a Campaign Goal of $350,000, to secure affordable long-term financing. As pledges are made and contributions are received, we’ll share regular updates on our progress. Along the way, we’ll continue to recognize current donors and highlight major gifts.
The House Corporation has established a campaign account at First Citizens Bank in Hartland, WI solely for the purpose of receiving donations for the repairs and renovations at the house.
Contributions can be by check or by credit card.
Our goal is 100% participation of our alumni – and ALL contributions, no matter the amount, will be maintained and managed separately from any existing operating funds or chapter accounts,
in this designated campaign account.

IOTA PI LEGACY SOCIETYThe Legacy Society offers an opportunity to provide for the future of Sigma Chi at Marquette, by establishing a gift provided at your death to the “1327 West Kilbourn INC” house corporation. For brothers who want to memorialize their participation in the “Make Your Marque Campaign for Iota Pi”, planned giving affords the opportunity to participate at a later date.
It’s a simple process: by having a documented reference in your will or trust, or codicil to your will that indicates your gift to “1327 West Kilbourn INC” you help ensure that money is available in the future, to be used exclusively for maintenance and improvements to the Iota Pi chapter house. You will become a member of the Legacy Society upon receipt of your documented gift. Your gift will be commemorated, with your name inscribed on the new Legacy Society plaque, to be displayed in the alumni room of the chapter house.
Since our last update, the Iota Pi chapter has been busy building an incredible story!
This past semester we initiated seven new brothers, and we’re growing Sigma Chi’s standing at Marquette. Our community service efforts are making a real difference on and off campus, with our continued support for The Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Marquette’s own Make A Difference Day, and Huntsman Cancer Foundation; our Derby Days goal this year is $10,000!
We’re proudly growing, and giving back. Now, we need help — for our chapter house.
Over the years, needed repairs and improvements grew beyond the scope of what we could manage alone. Fortunately, with support from Sigma Chi, the Constantine Housing Initiative (CHI) added the Iota Pi house to add to its portfolio, and renovations are taking place that will, once again, establish Sigma Chi as a leader on campus! The Make Your Marque Campaign is already working hard to fund this nearly $1.2 million renovation. Our immediate goal is to raise $350,000, and we need ALL our brothers’ help to reach it!
Several key safety upgrades, and some incredible renovations, are already complete; now we have more room for social functions and chapter meetings… things we couldn’t do with the old space. And the new living spaces are big improvements for brothers living in the house!

I’m pleased to share with all our brothers, actives and alumni alike, everything our new House Corporation is accomplishing with the chapter house! We promised from the start that we’d meet challenges head-on, and make sure the Iota Pi chapter house gives brothers a safe, secure and supportive environment to live, learn, and develop the bonds of brotherhood.
Today, I can report with confidence that we’re meeting that responsibility – and, we’re asking for your help to do it, TOGETHER!
Completing a nearly $1.2 million dollar renovation is more than we ever imagined we could take on, but we’re doing it — and doing it the right way! With the support and investment of the Constantine Housing Initiative, there’s already ‘skin in the game’ to make this a reality; now, we’re looking for that final push to reach an immediate goal of $350K and secure our permanent financing!
At “launch” events last fall in St. Louis, Chicago and Milwaukee, many of you joined us, saw the need, and made a commitment. That initial push helped get the ball rolling for major renovations, and today the revitalized house looks GREAT! On February 25. 2023 we celebrated a Grand Opening, and re-dedicated the “new” house — it’s truly a new standard on the Marquette campus, one we can all take pride in! But we’re a long way from finished…
Today, we’re asking every Iota Pi Sig to join our current donors who have already stepped up, to lead the challenge! Reach out to one another, re-ignite old college stories, and get current with our brothers. And let’s deliver a fresh, modern chapter house to our active chapter brothers of Iota Pi!

What percentage of my donation goes to the chapter house project?
Answer: “We know our donors well, and are proud to say that 100% of your gift will be used solely to support the renovation of the chapter house. Upon completion of the project, any remaining funds will be reserved for ongoing maintenance and future capital improvements. No portion of your gift will be directed to operational expenses or special projects related to other chapter activities.
If you wish to support the ongoing, recurring operational expenses of the chapter, we can direct you to the current chapter fundraising officer for additional information.”
What can I expect after I donate?
Answer: “After we receive your gift, you’ll begin receiving regular updates on the progress of the campaign. In addition, your name will be added to the Donor List (we only share names, never contribution amounts!) that is updated regularly on the website.
As outlined previously, based on your level of commitment, you’ll receive opportunities to participate in the Grand Opening and Re-Dedication of the chapter house! And ALL DONORS have their names recorded and displayed in various areas of the newly-renovated space… we want every brother to know just how important your support is, to making this possible.”
Is my gift tax deductible?
Answer: “Our House Corporation is a 501(c)(7) organization, and your gift is typically NOT TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. We encourage you to consult with a certified accountant and/or financial advisor, to obtain accurate tax advice.”
How secure is your on-line donation process?
Answer: “Security is extremely important! Our payment process automatically encrypts all transactions using secure sockets layer (SSL) protocol technology with 128-bit encryption and performs server checks to ensure customers are using an approved browser (supporting SSL 3.0 or higher) for web-based transactions. All transaction data is transmitted securely, and not directly to us; we don’t capture any of your personal financial information.
Rest assured that we only have access to donor information and NEVER have access to credit card numbers, other than the last 4 digits for verification or update purposes.”
I’d like to donate more, later. Can I make multiple donations?
Answer: “Absolutely! You can choose to make an additional one-time donation at any time, based on what fits best with your finances; there’s NO LIMIT to the number of donations you can make.
You can also choose to make simultaneous, recurring donations (a PayPal account is required) where you choose the amount of your monthly gift. You can modify or stop recurring payments at any time, via your PayPal user account.”
Whoops! I didn’t mean to donate that much. How do I get a refund?
Answer: “We understand that mistakes occasionally happen – it’s a fact of life with donations! In most cases, we can work directly with our processor to reverse the transaction before it posts if you’ve notified us immediately.
In the event that a donation has already been processed before you discover an error, we can work with you to issue a refund directly, via check; be advised that it will require additional processing time, but do know that we’ll never expect you to make an unintended gift.”
How can I make an in-kind donation?
Answer: “We’re currently unable to accept in-kind donations. As the project progresses, the opportunity to support the renovation with furnishings, fixtures or supplies may become available; please continue to monitor this website for upcoming donation opportunities.”
How can I donate to honor or remember someone?
Answer: “We do have additional opportunities to support the campaign, including our Legacy Society program. Please consider this opportunity to honor someone with your gift, through planned giving that’s established in their name.
Other memorial gift opportunities are under consideration; continue to monitor this site for updates and announcements.”
